U of I Chancellor making Urbana-Champaign's budget top priority in 2015

CHAMPAIGN - University of Illinois Chancellor Phyllis Wise says the Urbana-Champaign campus' budget is her top priority in 2015.

Wise says Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner said to prepare for budget cuts, but she also says that the campus isn't considering staff cuts or furloughs in order to save money.  Wise added that she thinks President Barack Obama's plan to make the first two years of community college free could be a good idea so long as it doesn't cut into the funding that four-year schools receive.

Wise also addressed the importance of the university winning athletics programs, as she says they can be a gateway to get other people involved with the school.
