Southern Illinois man sentenced to 19 years for sexual assault

EDWARDSVILLE - A southern Illinois man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl has been sentenced to 19 years in prison.

Authorities say John Hensley, 42, received his sentence on Tuesday after pleading guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.  Hensley faced sexual misconduct charges in connection with an alleged incident with the girl and her 3-year-old sister in October 2013.

Prosecutors say that Hensley was linked to at least one of the victims through DNA evidence.  Hensley had been in custody on $250,000 bond since his arrest, and will receive credit for time already served.
