ALPLM hosting several events throughout February

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum officials say several events will take place throughout the month of February, including a birthday party honoring the nation's 16th president.

Officials say historian Mark DePue will speak on the Civil War's Siege of Petersburg on February 5, and living history interpreters will be in attendance on February 12, Abraham Lincoln's birthday.  ALPLM officials will also name the winner of the "LincolnSelfie" contest.

In addition, this year marks the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War and Lincoln's assassination.  The library and museum will also celebrate its 10th anniversary during 2015, with every 10th day of the month being treated as "Family Day."  This month, families will have the chance to make birthday cards for Abraham Lincoln or Valentine's Day cards for loved ones.
