Springfield police investigate shooting incident

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that left a person with multiple non-life-threatening wounds.

Springfield police say the incident happened in the area of Martin Luther King Street and Stuart Street on January 28.  Police say as the victim walked out of a local liquor store, an individual described as a black male wearing dark gray sweatshirt and pants, got out of a white Chevrolet Impala, followed the victim around the outside of the business, and fired several shots.

Police say the victim walked home, and was later transported to Memorial Hospital by ambulance.  Authorities say the victim suffered multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the arm, hand, and leg.

Springfield police say this shooting does not appear to have any connection to any other recently reported crimes.  If you have any information on this incident, you are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at (217) 788-8311.
