Springfield officials to declare snow emergency this weekend

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - In anticipation of potential heavy snow accumulation this weekend, Springfield's Office of Public Works has announced that a Snow Emergency will be declared at 12:00 a.m. on February 1.

While the declaration is in effect, parking on snow emergency routes will be prohibited.  Motorists who park on these route risk having their vehicles removed and towed elsewhere.  City officials expect to lift the declaration on February 3 at 7:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Motorists are also reminded to watch for snow removal crews.  Individuals who are clearing their driveways and sidewalks are reminded to not place the snow into the street, as it is a violation of city ordinance.

To report any problems or concerns during this time, you are asked to call (217) 789-2246.
