Rantoul man arrested for allegedly causing wreck

URBANA - Champaign County authorities say a man has been arrested for allegedly ramming a car after running it off the roadway.

Police say Brian McStay, 53, was arrested on a preliminary aggravated battery charge on Saturday.

According to authorities, McStay was driving a sport utility vehicle on Interstate 57 on January 14 when he allegedly began to tailgate a car, occupied by three women.  One of the women called 911 to report the incident when the SUV struck the car from behind, forcing it into a ditch.  Police also say that McStay allegedly ran his SUV into the side of the car, then drove away from the scene.  Authorities say the vehicle was found about a mile away.

No one was seriously injured in this incident.
