Officials to hold public meeting about Macon County Beltway project

MT. ZION - Mt. Zion officials have announced that the public will have a chance to voice their concerns, questions, and opinions about the proposed Macon County South and East Beltway during an open house public meeting on February 3.

The meeting will take place at the Mt. Zion Convention Center from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis, with no formal presentation being given.  During the meeting, participants will be able to comment on proposed improvements and alternatives to the Beltway project.

The Macon County South and East Beltway would begin at Turpin Road and Elwin Road, and end at IL Route 121, southeast of Mt. Zion.  The beltway would separate truck traffic from residential traffic, allowing citizens to travel faster and more efficiently.  The main goal of the beltway is to provide easier access to Interstate 72.
