Trial postponed for man facing murder charge

QUINCY - The trial for a western Illinois man who faces a first-degree murder charge has been postponed for two months.

On Friday, Adams County Circuit Judge Robert Adrian rescheduled the trial of Alex Koehler, 28, at the request of Koehler's public defender.  Koehler's trial was originally scheduled to begin on February 9, but will now begin on April 13.

Koehler faces a charge of first-degree murder in the July 2014 death of Robert Owens, 56.  According to authorities, Koehler allegedly slashed Owens' throat, leading to his death three days later.
