Springfield police investigate Sunday night shooting

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on February 1, resulting in woman suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Springfield police say the shooting happened at about 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of South 13th Street.  Authorities say the woman went to the area with her boyfriend to give a friend a ride when they were approached by two males, one of which was armed with a shotgun.

Police say the suspect fired multiple shots at the couple, but only the woman was struck.  She went to Memorial Hospital for treatment, during which officers were notified of the incident.

Authorities say the suspects were described as black males.  The first suspect was described as tall with a thin build and wearing all black clothing, while the second was described as short and wearing a black-colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
