Springfield police investigate fatal shooting

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department has announced it is investigating a homicide that took place late Monday night.

Springfield police say at about 11:15 p.m., officers were called to the 200 block of North MacArthur for a report of shots fired and a man down.  Upon arriving, officers say they found a gunshot victim, identified by the Sangamon County Coroner's Office as 24-year-old Demarco Lee, on the front porch of a home.  Police say Lee was unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Springfield police say this investigation is ongoing.  If anyone has information on this shooting, they are asked to contact the Springfield Police Department.
