UIS, SIU School of Medicine hosting "Pink Out" basketball games

SPRINGFIELD - On February 14, 2015, Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the University of Illinois at Springfield will team up to help raise money for the fight against cancer during a special "Pink Out" basketball game.

Starting at 1:00 p.m., the UIS women's and men's basketball teams will play against teams from Rockhurst University.  The games will take place at the Recreation Athletic Center on the University of Illinois - Springfield campus, and all money raised during this event will go towards cancer research at the American Cancer Society and the Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU School of Medicine.

The "Pink Out" games will feature a special presentation honoring cancer survivors at the event, and survivors will receive complementary flowers from Fifth Street Floral.  A special prize drawing from Giganti & Giganti Fine Jewelry will also be held, and Dr. Robert Mocharnuk will speak at halftime during the men's basketball game.

All cancer survivors will receive free admission to the games.  The price of admission is $6, but fans who wear pink clothing to the game will only need to pay $3.  Admission for students in kindergarten through 12th grade is $1.
