Red Cross encouraging central Illinois residents to donate blood

Posted:
CENTRAL ILLINOIS - The American Red Cross is encouraging Macon County residents to donate blood throughout the month of February.

Red Cross officials say influenza and inclement weather in some parts of the country have prevented regular donors from making or keeping blood donation appointments.  As a result, more healthy, diverse blood donors are needed to help ensure and maintain a sufficient blood supply.

All blood types are accepted, but types O negative, A negative, and B negative are especially needed.  To learn more about donating blood, or to schedule an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org or call (800) 733-2767.
