Quincy to celebrate 175th anniversary

QUINCY - Quincy residents are getting ready to celebrate the city's 175th anniversary.

City officials say the festivities will begin at a kickoff event Tuesday afternoon.  According to Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore, the city signed its articles of incorporation on February 3, 1840.

During this afternoon's celebration, Moore says he'll announce a series of community events planned for later this year, which will be paid for with private donations and funds raised from corporate partners.  Moore also says that a 30-member steering committee has been planning for Quincy's anniversary since May 2014.
