Central Illinois students to compete in Regional Science Olympiad

CHAMPAIGN - Students at more than a dozen central Illinois middle schools and high schools will be participating in the annual Parkland Regional Science Olympiad tournament on March 7.

The tournament will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. throughout Parkland College, and will feature 27 varsity and junior-varsity teams from 17 schools.  More than 40 events will be held throughout the day, testing teams on their problem-solving skills and knowledge of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and technology concepts.

Winning teams will receive awards during a ceremony after the event, and will advance to the Illinois Science Olympiad state tournament at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on April 18.
