Illinois teen dies after collapsing at basketball game
PLAINFIELD - Authorities say a northeastern Illinois teen who collapsed during a basketball game has died.
Will County Coroner Pat O'Neil says Dramon Ratcliff, 13, collapsed during a basketball game at Plainfield Central High School on Wednesday. Ratcliff was transported to a Joliet hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. O'Neil says Ratcliff suffered from an undiagnosed heart condition. O'Neil says that toxicology results are still pending.
According to a Plainfield School District spokesperson, Ratcliff was an eighth-grade honor roll student at John F. Kennedy Middle School. The spokesperson also said that Ratcliff had been practicing with a private basketball team at the high school on Wednesday.
