Danville Public Works Department hosting job fair

DANVILLE - Danville Public Works Department officials have announced that a job fair will be held at the Public Works facility on March 7.

Officials say the job fair will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., and is designed to educate and inform participants of multiple seasonal job opportunities that are being offered, and the skill sets desired of applicants.  The job fair will also be used to assess if prior staff will be returning, and in what capacity.

Seasonal positions that will be offered include residential household and landscape waste collection, maintenance of grounds, facilities, and improvements in Danville parks and other public properties, maintenance of roadways and right-of-ways, pool lifeguarding, golf course upkeep, and sanitary sewer operations.

Applicants must have a valid Illinois Drivers License with a good driving record, a high school diploma or GED, good communication skills and a good work record, and must pass a drug screening and background check.  If applicants are still in high school, they must be over 16 years old to work for the municipal pool, and at least 18 years of age to operate equipment.

The positions being offered do not include benefits.  Those who participate in this job fair, or who have previously worked in these positions, are not guaranteed to be hired during the 2015 season.
