Illinois libraries receive $15.2 million in grants

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - Approximately $15.2 million in grants have been distributed to public libraries throughout the state by Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.

White says the money being given out is part of the Illinois Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants Program.  White also says the libraries that are receiving the money serve about 12 million state residents.

The program is authorized under state law, and was created to help ensure that qualifying libraries can reach and maintain a minimum level of services.
