Baby TALK offering "Come Sign With Me" classes to families

DECATUR - Baby TALK officials are offering parents the chance to teach their children, ages six months to two years, how to communicate using "sign language" during a special series of classes beginning March 16.

Officials say "Come Sign With Me" classes will be held on Mondays from March 16 until April 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., at the Baby TALK office in Decatur.  During the classes, babies will learn how to communicate with their parents using special "sign language," before they are able to communicate through verbal speech.

During the classes, parents and children will learn signs for phrases such as more, eat, and drink, please, thank you, family, food, and animals.  Families will also receive a picture book of simple signs and a weekly handout consisting of various activities.

Registration will be open until classes start, or until classes are filled, with a maximum of 10 children per group.  Prepayment of a $45 registration fee is required before the classes begin, and cannot be refunded after the start date.  Every child in attendance must be accompanied by an adult.
