Coroner releases names of 2 Morgan County residents found dead Sunday morning

MORGAN COUNTY - The Morgan County Coroner has released the names of two individuals who were found dead at their home.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Lair says Raymond Vanwinkle, 91, and his wife Dolores Vanwinkle, 83, were found by a family member at about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.  Lair says Dolores was found on the ground near their home's work building, while Raymond was found inside the building.

According to Lair, preliminary autopsy results show that Dolores had fallen on ice and sustained multiple severe fractures that would have prevented her from moving, and that Raymond was found inside the building on the concrete floor.  Lair says the outdoor temperature was 15 degrees, while the indoor temperature was 20 degrees.

Lair says at this time, it appears that Dolores died from hypothermia from her fall, and that Raymond died from severe heart disease, with hypothermia contributing to his death.  Additional tests are expected to take up to three weeks.

The Illinois State Police and Morgan County Sheriff's Office are investigating these deaths.  We will provide more details as they become available.
