Successor named for state representative position

Posted:
LITCHFIELD - A Montgomery County law student has been chosen to succeed Wayne Rosenthal as the state representative of Illinois' 95th District.

Republican leaders from Christian, Macoupin, Madison, and Montgomery Counties say Avery Bourne was selected for the job during a Saturday meeting.  The vacancy was created when Rosenthal was selected by Governor Bruce Rauner to lead the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Officials say Bourne was chosen for the position because of her education, fiscal responsibility, and understanding of agriculture.  Bourne has also volunteered on the campaigns of Rauner, Rosenthal, and U.S. Representative Rodney Davis, among others.

Bourne is expected to be sworn in this week.
