BEMENT - The Piatt County Sheriff's Office says a Bement man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident that left two men seriously injured earlier this month.
Authorities say at about 12:40 a.m. on February 7, the Piatt County Sheriff's Office received a report of two men suffering from stab wounds in the area of Bement. Police say both men were taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana, and underwent emergency surgery for their injuries.
Authorities say the men have survived with their wounds, and have been released. The Piatt County Sheriff's Office was joined by multiple departments, including the Illinois State Police, in its investigation of this incident.
Illinois State Police say on February 13, the investigation led troopers to search a residence on the 300 block of East Moultrie Street in Bement, where the crime scene was located and processed by the ISP Crime Scene Services. Authorities say interviews were conducted and evidence was gathered, which resulted in the arrest of John Fair, 55, at the home.
Authorities say Fair faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery - great bodily harm, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fair remains in custody at the Piatt County Jail on $150,000 bond.
