Authorities say the student told officers that after he got off a school bus and began walking home, he was approached by a man.  The child reported to officers that the man allegedly made contact, prompting to child to run home, and the parents to call police.

Springfield police continued their investigation, identifying and interviewing the individual who was described by the child.  After conducting a follow-up interview with the child, police determined that the incident did not happen as reported, and that there was no contact with the child.
