Rauner fills 2 U of I Board of Trustees positions

CHAMPAIGN - Two individuals have been selected by Governor Bruce Rauner to serve on the University of Illinois' Board of Trustees.

In a news release distributed on Tuesday, Rauner announced that he has chosen Jill Smart and Ramon Cepeda to fill openings on the university's Board of Trustees.  The news follows last month's announcement that trustee Edward McMillan will succeed Christopher Kennedy as Board of Trustees chairman.

Cepeda is the vice president of Northern Trust, and is a graduate of the University of Illinois.  Cepeda has also worked for other mortgage companies and banks.  Smart is also a graduate of the University of Illinois, and is the president of the National Academy of Human Resources.  Smart has nearly 35 years of experience in human resources, serving as chief human resources officer at Accenture for a number of years.
