2 accused in U of I student's death to stand trial
URBANA - A Champaign judge has ruled that two men accused in the death of a University of Illinois student will stand trial.
During a Monday hearing, Judge John Kennedy ruled that there is probable cause to try Daniel Gonzales and Reginald Scott in connection with the death of Vicente Mundo, 20. Kennedy also assigned Judge Heidi Ladd to the case, in response to a request for a new judge from Gonzalez's attorney.
Authorities say Mundo was shot after trying to escape from an armed robbery in the parking garage of his Champaign apartment on January 25. Mundo's body was found near Savoy on January 31.
Gonzalez's and Scott's bonds have been set at $2 million each.
