FORSYTH - The Rotary Club announced a donation of $6000 to Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Macon Resources, and Rotary International Thursday morning. The proceeds come from the annual Rotary Chili Cook-off on January 17.
"It's a real fun community event," said John Mahaffey, chairman of the chili cook-off. "The money goes back into the community and Rotary International," he said.
The event took place at the Hickory Point Mall. Professional cooks from around the nation and celebrity cooks from Macon County took part.
Rotary clubs help fund local grants and international projects. They also support the Youth Leadership Program.
