Effingham gas station to install electric car charging stations
EFFINGHAM - California-based electric car manufacturer Tesla has announced that six charging stations will be installed in Effingham in the near future.
Officials say the charging stations will be installed at Effingham's Jack Flash gas station. According to the gas station's owner John Wortman, Tesla representatives talked with him last fall about installing the charging stations, and that a lease for the stations was signed in February.
Wortman also says he believes his station was chosen due to Effingham being located between Indianapolis, Chicago, and St. Louis. He also adds that the charging stations will only be able to work with Tesla cars.
Tesla has installed dozens of "Supercharger" stations across many states, including Illinois, to help charge the two models of fully-electric cars that it produces.
