ISP reports multiple crashes on I-74 westbound

Posted:
CHAMPAIGN - Illinois State Police say emergency crews have responded to several crashes on Interstate 74 westbound, between Lincoln Avenue and Neil Street in Champaign Monday morning.

Authorities say four or five separate crashes happened along both sides of the westbound roadway, and that injuries were reported in some of the incidents.  However, police have not released details on how many people were injured, or the severity of those injuries.

Illinois State Police are reminding motorists to use caution, reduce speed, and allow for extra travel time on slick roads.  Police also remind motorists that if you lose traction to slow down gradually and not slam down on the brakes, and to use caution on ramps and bridges as frost forms on those surfaces first.

We will provide more details as they become available.
