ALPLM to hold event featuring women's contributions to Illinois history

SPRINGFIELD - The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will host an event that features women's contributions to the state's history on March 17.

The event, titled "Stories from the Stacks," will be held in the library's multi-purpose room at 5:30 p.m.  Catalogs published prior to the Great Depression, books on manners and household remedies, greeting cards, and an 1873 copy of Herndon's Illustrated Journal of Fashion will be among the items featured during this event.

Groups, such as the Women's Auxiliary of the Progressive Mine Workers of America and the League of Women Voters, as well as individuals such as sculptor Vinnie Ream and labor activist Mother Jones, will also be featured at this event.
