Red Cross officials encourage central Illinois residents to donate blood

Posted:
ILLINOIS - The American Red Cross is encouraging eligible central Illinois blood donors to give blood at one of several blood donation events throughout March.

Red Cross officials say by donating blood, you can help save the lives of patients in need.  In order to donate blood, you must have a blood donor card or driver's license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.  Individuals who are at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in good health may be eligible to donate blood.  High school students and other donors ages 18 or younger will also need to meet additional height and weight requirements.
