Plunging for a Purpose

Posted:
DECATUR - More than 500 participants plunged into Lake Decatur to support the Special Olympics on Saturday.

Raising over 81,000 dollars in donations, the 13th annual Polar Plunge was a success.  Teams from all over the community participated, including schools and some of your very own WAND News Team.

Event coordinator Joanie Keyes told us this year the "Cool School" award was taken from the St. Teresa "Chilly Dawgs" team and awarded to Eisenhower High School.  Officials say EHS raised over 6,000 dollars for this event.

Events like the Polar Plunge remind members of the community of Decatur when there is a cause, the caring is apparent.
