Morton Surges Past Rochester in 3-A State Championship

NORMAL-- Morton used a 14-0 2nd half run to beat Rochester 47-37 in Saturday's 3-A State Championship game. A three pointer by Kylie Clemens gave Rochester a 28-18 lead early in the 3rd quarter, before Morton exploded for 14 straight to take control. Laryn Sapetti led the Rockets with 19 points.

"It's been a great ride," said Sapetti. "This is such a special team, and we've had a fun year."

Rochester finishes the season with a 33-3 record, and takes 2nd in state for the third time in program history.

After the game Head Coach J.R. Boudouris was able to put everything in perspective; "...(We) finished 2nd in 3-A, went 33-3, won every in season conference tournament...for my money it's the best Rochester's had, when you look at everything we accomplished."
