Illinois State Police make arrest in Sullivan stabbing death

SULLIVAN -  In an update to a story WAND brought you last week, the Illinois State Police have announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the stabbing death of a Sullivan woman.

Authorities say on March 4, at about 11:30 a.m., Sullivan police received a report of two individuals found unresponsive at an apartment complex.  Upon arriving, officers found the two unresponsive individuals, and determined that they had suffered what appeared to be stab wounds.

Police say one individual, identified as Michael Yost, 40, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.  The second individual, 43-year-old Sheri Randall, was pronounced dead by the Moultrie County Coroner at 11:50 a.m.  Authorities say Illinois State Police were called by Sullivan police to help in the investigation into this incident.

Illinois State Police say say arrested Yost as he was being released from St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.  Authorities say Yost was transported to the Moultrie County Jail, where he faces a preliminary charge of first-degree murder.

Authorities say this incident is still under investigation.  We will provide updates as they become available.
