Urbana Public Works Department to provide leaf collection services

Posted:
URBANA - Urbana Public Works Department officials have announced that the city will provide leaf collection services to residents for two weeks this spring.

According to city officials, the collection dates will be from April 13 until April 17, and from April 27 until May 1.  Residents who wish to take part in this collection program must follow five requirements, which we've listed below:

1. Place leaves into 30 gallon paper lawn & garden bags.
2. Only leaves and non-woody plant material will be collected.
3. No plastic bags, brush, tree limbs or garbage.
4. Bags must be placed at the curb or along the roadway edge.
5. Please place all bags out before 6:00 a.m. on your regular U•Cycle collection day.

Officials also say that residents may take their bagged leaves and other yard waste year-round to the Landscape Recycling Center in Urbana for a small disposal fee.
