Illinois residents have one more chance to sign up for health coverage

Posted:
CHICAGO - Illinois residents who missed their chance to enroll for health coverage under President Barack Obama's health care law will have another chance to sign up.

According to Get Covered Illinois officials, this new enrollment period will begin on March 15, and ends on April 30.  Officials also say this is the last chance for uninsured Illinois residents to sign up for coverage to avoid a large penalty when they file taxes next year.

Those who wish to enroll during this time are required to attest that to were subject to receiving a penalty for not being covered in 2014, and that they didn't know or understand that they would receive a penalty for being uninsured.
