U of I president to step down 1 month early

URBANA - University of Illinois Board of Trustees officials say the school's president will retire about a month earlier than originally planned.

During a Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, Chairman Ed McMillan announced that Robert Easter will step down as the university's president on May 17 instead of June 30.  Easter's replacement, Timothy Killeen, will now take over as president on May 18.

Killeen says he plans on launching a new strategic planning process for the university when he becomes president.
