Illinois State Police hold graduation ceremony for Cadet Class 125

SPRINGFIELD - Illinois State Police officials say 37 cadets were welcomed into its ranks during a graduation ceremony in Springfield Friday morning.

The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. at the Illinois State Police Academy.  Officials say the graduates of Cadet Class 125 will be assigned to districts throughout the state beginning on March 16.

Officials also say that this class is the fourth class to graduate under a law that allows veterans who earned an Afghan or Iraqi campaign medal by the U.S. Military to apply for a position with the Illinois State Police without having earned a college degree.  Out of the 37 cadets in the graduating class, nine are veterans, and four of those veterans were hired under the new law.
