1 injured in Decatur house fire

DECATUR - The Decatur Fire Department says one person has been injured in a house fire that took place Sunday morning.

Decatur Fire Department officials say they received a report of a residential fire in the 2000 block of North Water street at about 7:57 a.m.  Fire crews arrived on scene at approximately 8:00 a.m., and began to extinguish the flames.

Officials say fire crews successfully put out the flames at about 10:47 a.m.  Authorities say one person was found to be injured in the fire, and that the home had sustained heavy damage in this incident.

Officials say five adults who were displaced by the fire are receiving help from the American Red Cross.  According to the initial investigation, officials say the fire began in the home's basement, and it is unknown if any smoke detectors inside the home were functioning.
