Tolono Fire Protection District to celebrate opening of new fire station

Posted:
TOLONO - Central Illinois residents are being invited by the Tolono Fire Protection District to celebrate their new fire station at a public dedication ceremony and open house on March 29.

Officials say the ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the new fire station, located at 214 North Bourne Street in Tolono.  Following the ceremony, an open house will be held until 5:00 p.m.

Tolono Fire Protection District members will be on hand to give tours of the station, as well as show off some of the equipment used by the department.  Refreshments will also be served during the open house.

Officials say construction on the new building began in August 2014, and was completed in January 2015.  The new facility is more than double the size of the old station, and officials say the new building should serve the district well for decades to come.
