Southern Illinois man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter
MARION - A southern Illinois man who was charged in the death of his three-month-old son has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
According to Williamson County State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti, Brandon Vaughn, 23, entered a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter on Monday. Authorities say Vaughn originally faced murder charges in the death of his son in October 2013.
Authorities say Vaughn allegedly threw a comforter over the baby and went outside to smoke, and that Brayson was later found unresponsive in the home. The baby was declared dead at a hospital.
Vaughn is scheduled to be sentenced on May 8. He could face up to 14 years in prison. Vaughn has also been ordered to have no visitation with another one of his children while he's in custody.
