Southern Illinois man pleads guilty to first-degree murder
BENTON - Authorities say a southern Illinois man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of his wife.
Officials say John Adams, 66, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder on Monday. Adams' murder trail began last week. According to State's Attorney Evan Owens, Adams' plea was not part of a negotiated plea deal.
Authorities say Adams was charged with murder when his wife, 52-year-old Kendra Adams, died one day after being shot in the back of the head. Adams is scheduled to appear back in court in April.
