SPRINGFIELD - Governor Bruce Rauner's appointment of individuals to director positions at three state agencies has been confirmed by the Illinois Senate.

Senate members voted to confirm the appointments on Thursday.  Rauner appointed Philip Nelson as director of the Department of Agriculture, Erica Jeffries as director of the Department of Veterans' Affairs, and Hugo Chaviano as director of the Department of Labor.

Prior to his appointment, Nelson was president of the Illinois Farm Bureau.  Jeffries served in the U.S. military, reaching the rank of captain in the U.S. Army, and also served as a Black Hawk pilot.  Chaviano was a senior partner for Sanchez Daniels and Hoffman, and has nearly three dozen years of legal experience.
