Champaign Public Works Department announces yard waste pickup

Posted:
CHAMPAIGN - Champaign Public Works Department officials have announced that Spring Yard Waste Pickup will begin on March 30.

Pickup will last for four weeks, ending on April 24, and is available to all residential properties within city limits.  Officials say materials must be placed into 30-gallon paper yard waste bags, and not into plastic bags or containers.

To ensure pickup, yard waste bags must be placed within ten feet of the curb of a public street by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled day.  Twig and branches included in the yard waste may be bundled with non-metallic twine, and cannot be larger than two inches in diameter and three-and-a-half feet long.  Bundles must be less than 18 inches in diameter.

Officials also say that collection of yard waste could be delayed by up to one day on heavier collection days.  If yard waste isn't collected by the day after the scheduled collection, call (217) 403-4700 to report.

We've included a map including collection days in this article.
