IHSA renews contracts with basketball finals' host cities
PEORIA - The Illinois High School Association's Board of Directors have voted to keep the boys state basketball finals in Peoria, and the girls state basketball finals in Normal, through 2020.
On Saturday, the board of directors voted unanimously to renew five-year contracts with the host cities. According to Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis, the boys state basketball finals games are a big deal for his city.
The boys basketball finals were played for 77 years in Champaign before being moved to Peoria's Carver Arena in 1996. The girls basketball finals have been held at the Illinois State University's Redbird Arena since 1992.
