Macon County Health Department offering emergency response training program

MT. ZION - The Macon County Health Department is offering residents a chance to participate in an emergency response training program during April.

Health department officials say the Community Emergency Response Team Program is consist of 20 hours of classroom and hands-on disaster training, and will conclude with an exercise drill designed to allow participants to apply the knowledge and skills learned during the course.  We've included a schedule of classroom session below:

April 13: Disaster Preparedness & CERT Organization
April 14: Disaster Psychology & Search and Rescue
April 20: Fire Safety & Disaster Medical Ops
April 21: Disaster Medical Ops (Part 2) & Terrorism
April 25: Review & Simulation

All classes will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Fire Department.  This program is free and open to the public.  Those who are interested in participating in this program are asked to RSVP by April 1 by calling (217) 423-6988, extension 1131 or extension 1133.
