MCCD to host gardening event

DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District is inviting central Illinois residents to learn more about gardening during its "Into the Wild: The Three Sisters" event on April 4.

During this event, participants will learn why corn, squash, and beans grew well together for Native Americans and pioneers, and will plant a set of these "three sisters" in a mini-garden they will be able to take home.  Participants will also have the opportunity to tour Homestead Prairie Farm Gardens with a Master Gardener.

This event will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Rock Springs Nature Center, and will be free and open to the public.  If you're interested in attending, you must pre-register online by April 3.
