Alzheimer's Association seeking volunteers in Decatur

Posted:
DECATUR - The Greater Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is looking for outgoing and engaging Decatur residents who may be interested in becoming Alzheimer's Association Community Representatives.

Alzheimer's Association officials say representatives would be responsible for presenting brief education programs in the community, and would represent the association at community events and health fairs.  Other duties include reaching out and speaking at churches, schools, and senior clubs.

Officials say potential volunteers should be comfortable with public speaking, organized, and energetic.  Previous professional experience in dementia care is not required.  However, volunteers cannot work with programs or organizations that are potential referral sources for the association, and must undergo a background check and screening.
