Millikin, Illinois PTA highlighting artists at event

DECATUR - Millikin University and Illinois PTA are teaming up to host "Spotlight: A Children's Celebration of Art and Community" on March 28.

The event, which will be held in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center from 12:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., will celebrate children from across the state, including scholarship winners, students who serve their communities, and Reflections artists.  Attendees will also have the chance to participate in a workshop focused on a specific category, such as literature, performance arts, music, and visual arts.

Also featured will be an art gallery of almost 500 Reflections pieces, which will be presented alongside the work of Millikin University artists.  The event will conclude with a ceremony recognizing students with Reflections pieces that are advancing to the National PTA, students receiving honorable mention awards from Illinois PTA, the Student Service Leader Award recipient, and Illinois PTA Scholarship winners.

This event is open and free to all children in Illinois from pre-kindergarten through grade 12.  Adults are also welcome to participate with their children in the workshops, and are required to accompany any child age seven or under who is participating in a workshop.  For more information, or to register for this event, visit
