Former pastor sentenced to 6 years in prison

CARBONDALE - Southern Illinois authorities say a former pastor at The View Church in Carbondale has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Officials say Josh Swain, 34, received the sentence on Monday after pleading guilty earlier this year to theft, loan fraud, and aggravated identity theft.  Swain received six years in prison for theft, four years in prison for loan fraud, and three years in prison for aggravated identity theft.  He will also need to pay about $76,275 in restitution.

Swain's prison terms will run concurrently, meaning that he would serve no more than six years behind bars.  However, Jackson County State's Attorney Michael Carr says Swain could serve as little as three years, so long as Swain's sentence is served without incident.
