Annual high school football all-star game to raise money for children's hospitals
SPRINGFIELD - Some of Illinois' best high school football players will participate in an all-star game in June to help raise money for children's hospitals throughout the nation.
Officials say the Shriners of Illinois and the Illinois Coaches Association will host the 41st annual Illinois High School Shrine Game on June 20. The game is expected to be played on Illinois Wesleyan University's campus.
This year's game will be aired on a local radio station, and Tennessee Titans player Alex Tanney will speak at the event's banquet. Officials say more than $23,000 was raised during last year's game, with the proceeds helping to provide medical care for children at 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children locations.
