SIU School of Medicine inviting golfers to participate in charity event

SPRINGFIELD - Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is inviting central Illinois golfers to take part in a charity event that will benefit the Camp COCO Children's Cancer Fund.

Officials say the event will be held at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield on June 12, with the game beginning at 12:30 p.m.  Interested golfers are encouraged to form teams for this event.

Officials say the proceeds of this event will benefit Camp COCO, which is a summer camp designed to enable kids with cancer and blood disorders to spend a week enjoying typical camping activities.  Campers receive special attention from SIU's pediatric staff and health professionals, as well as various community volunteers.

The entry fee is set at $125 per player, and includes greens fees, golf cart, lunch, dinner, and on-course beverages and prizes.  Sponsorships at various levels of support will also be available, and those who submit registrations by June 1 will be entered into a special prize drawing.
